“The Shore Is Still There” is a song about remembering that a difficult moment is not the whole journey.

There are times when life feels like being surrounded by open water. The waves keep coming. The horizon disappears behind fog. We cannot see where we are going, how far we have traveled, or when we will finally reach somewhere that feels solid again.

For someone who has lived through trauma, those moments can feel especially powerful.

Fear can rise like a wave.

Anger can become a storm.

A memory can suddenly make years disappear.

The body can react to something happening now as though something from long ago is happening all over again.

And when that happens, it can be difficult to remember that anything exists beyond the immediate moment.

The Shore Is Still There was created for those moments.

The shore represents more than a destination. It represents possibility. Rest. Choice. Ground beneath our feet. A place beyond whatever wave we are experiencing right now.

But this song does not demand that we immediately swim toward it.

That matters.

Sometimes we are exhausted from swimming.

Sometimes we have spent so much of our lives fighting, surviving, working, pushing, and proving that being told to “keep going” becomes another burden.

So this song offers something different:

You can float.

You can stop fighting the water for a while.

You can breathe.

You can rest.

You can be angry.

You can be tired.

You can have a terrible fucking day without turning it into another healing assignment.

The shore will still be there tomorrow.

Through JS Worldbridger and Julie Jewels Smoot, the ocean also carries another meaning. There is something powerful about remembering what it feels like to stand somewhere surrounded by water in every direction, unable to see land, while knowing intellectually that land still exists beyond the horizon.

Sometimes healing feels exactly like that.

You may not be able to see where you're going.

You may not recognize how far you've already traveled.

You may not even know what the destination looks like anymore.

But not being able to see the shore does not mean the shore disappeared.

And you don't have to become some perfectly healed version of yourself before you're allowed to reach it.

The waves can rise.

The storm can come.

The fog can cover the horizon.

The memories can return.

The body can remember.

And still—

there can be another morning.

There can be solid ground.

There can be rest.

There can be laughter.

There can be music.

There can be something beyond survival.

Maybe today you swim.

Maybe today you float.

Maybe today you simply listen to the water.

Nothing is required of you.

The ocean can move at its own rhythm.

Your body can move at its own rhythm.

And however long it takes—

the shore is still there.

And so are you.
