Before the First Client: A Guided Meditation
Before the First Client is a gentle guided meditation created for therapists, counselors, healers, caregivers, and helping professionals who spend their days listening, witnessing, supporting, and holding space for others.
Before the first conversation begins, before the first story is shared, and before the needs of the day begin to unfold, this meditation offers a few moments that belong to you.
You are invited to notice your breath, feel the support beneath your body, and arrive exactly as you are. There is no need to clear your mind, create perfect calm, or prepare yourself in a particular way. Instead, the practice encourages awareness without demand and presence without pressure.
This is an opportunity to remember that being present for another person does not require leaving yourself behind.
Your body is here.
Your breath is here.
Your boundaries are here.
And you are allowed to begin from a place of connection with yourself.
Use this meditation before your first client of the day, before beginning a full schedule of sessions, or anytime you want a quiet transition between your personal life and the work of supporting others.
You do not need to fix anything before you begin.
You do not need to carry everything that enters the room.
You do not need to be perfectly centered.
Simply arrive.
Listen.
Notice.
And begin when you are ready.
Listening First. Nothing is required of you.
